Account and data deletion
This page is the public web resource for requesting deletion of your Yak app account and associated data (Google Play account/data deletion requirement). It names the app and developer as they appear on the store listing.
How to request deletion
You do not need to reinstall Yak or create a website account.
In the app (recommended)
1. Open Yak → Settings → Privacy. 2. Under Your data, tap Erase data on this device and confirm. 3. That removes your library, downloads, listen history, queue, sync credentials, hide lists, and diagnostic logs on that device. 4. If you previously used paid Cloud sync (when available), the app also requests deletion of your Cloud rows on our servers.
Uninstalling Yak or clearing app data also removes on-device data.
By email (web request — works without the app)
Email [support@yakplayer.com](mailto:support@yakplayer.com?subject=Account%20deletion%20%E2%80%94%20Yak) with subject Account deletion — Yak.
Include:
- That you want your Yak account and associated data deleted
- If you used paid Cloud sync: your opaque Cloud sync token (shown in Settings when Cloud was enabled) so we can locate and delete server rows
- If you have an active Cloud subscription via Google Play: cancel it in Play first (or ask us to help); we outline that step when Cloud is offered
We fulfill Cloud erasure requests as soon as practical (target: a few business days; immediately via the in-app / API path once Cloud is live). Temporary deactivation is not offered as a substitute for deletion.
What we delete
| Source | Deleted |
|---|---|
| On this device (in-app erase / uninstall / clear data) | Subscriptions, episode metadata, downloads, queue, listen history, preferences, sync credentials, hide lists, diagnostic logs |
| TGC Cloud servers (when Cloud is offered) | All rows for your opaque token: token hash, entitlement record, subscription feed URLs, resume positions |
| After an email request | Cloud rows we hold for the token you provide |
What we do not delete or cannot delete for you
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
Encrypted .tgcb or OPML backups you saved elsewhere |
Files you exported stay under your control until you delete them |
| gpodder.net data | Managed in your gpodder account under gpodder’s policy; we do not host a copy of that sync data |
| Publisher / discovery hosts | Your device talks to them over HTTPS; we cannot erase their operational logs |
| Google Play Billing records | Google retains purchase records; manage subscriptions in the Play Store |
| Legal / security retention | We do not keep a separate archive of your library after erasure. If a narrow legal hold ever applied, we would say so in the privacy policy |
Free app today
The free Yak app does not create a server-side account with TGC Network LLC. There is no free-tier library profile on our servers to delete. Use in-app erase, uninstall, or email us for other privacy requests. If we launch paid Cloud sync with opaque tokens, this same URL remains the public deletion request path and we will update the privacy policy before that feature ships.
